With Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler can finally exploit Green Bay's suspect secondary. |
For nearly all of last season, the Packers were the undisputed best team in the NFL. But after an unexpected playoff loss to the Giants and a convincing Week 1 defeat at the hands of the 49ers, Green Bay suddenly looks very beatable. That's bad news when the Bears are coming to town.
On one hand, I can't imagine the Packers falling into the dreaded 0-2 hole. But looking at the matchups in this game, I can't help but lean towards the Bears. The high-powered Green Bay offense has struggled against the Chicago defense over the past three seasons, averaging 21.7 points per game against them compared to 30.7 versus all other teams. And while Johnny Knox and Devin Aromashodu rarely tested the suspect Packer secondary, new targets Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey are a serious advantage for the Bears. I think Green Bay's defense will eventually right itself in time to make a playoff run, but I can't trust it right now.
