KID - Week 3 Power Rankings

Each year, eleven of my best friends and I participate in a keeper fantasy football league, dubbed the "Keeper? I Don't Even Like Her!" league (KID, for short).  This post, rankings the teams in our league after their week 2 performances, is for them.

The record pace of the passing game this season has definitely had its effect on the fantasy world.  Quarterbacks have always been the biggest fantasy point producers, but now they're bringing receivers up with them.  Last year, the top 10 non-QBs in fantasy points were all running backs.  So far this season, four of those 10 are receivers.  In fact, no running back in our league has more points than Kenny Britt, Miles Austin or Steve Smith.

However, I don't expect that to be the case at the end of the year, as secondaries gel and erase the busted coverages that are contributing to so many yards through the air.  Receiving corps that look great now won't be as reliable in December.

This week, I'll quickly note the biggest early weakness that I see in each team.  You might want to keep this in mind as trading season gets into full swing.

1. A Few Good Chicks (Last week's rank: 3) 2-0, 286 points
Will was the leading scorer last week, with 137 well-balanced points.  Eight of his nine starters, Johnny Knox being the exception, put up double-digits.
Biggest weakness: Nothing that I can see.  Will's team has strength and depth at every position.  Anything I'd put here is just nitpicking.

2. Room For Regret (2) 2-0, 289 points
Kevin saw Dez Bryant (injured) and Antonio Gates (shut down by Bill Belichick) contribute zero points last week, and yet he still put up an impressive 130-spot thanks to Tom Brady and the Jets defense.
Biggest weakness: Kevin's depth at running back concerns me.  He's one injury away from starting Marion Barber or C.J. Spiller.

3. Rice and Breesy (1) 1-1, 255 points
Sumit suffered a surprising loss to Doctor Asshole this past week, despite A.J. Green's 18 points against the Broncos.
Biggest weakness: Unless Mark Ingram emerges as more of a contributor, the Rice and Breesy flex spot will be occupied by secondary scatbacks like Danny Woodhead and Reggie Bush.

4. Aluminum Pint (4) 1-1, 204 points
Dave's win over Scott would have been much less comfortable if Tony Romo hadn't returned from his rib injury.
Biggest weakness: Roddy White will rev up soon, but Santana Moss and Plaxico Burress don't make me excited about the rest of Dave's receiving corps.

5. Dirty Mike & The Boys (6) 1-1, 202 points
Larry Fitz's big game helped Colin to an important win over Mike last week.
Biggest weakness: Colin was ill-equipped to suffer the loss of Jamaal Charles.  His weak running back depth has left him with Ryan Mathews and Ben Tate in his starting lineup, and a receiver in his flex spot.

6. Father Superior (8) 1-1, 185 points
Matthew Stafford gave Superior a great start against Kevin, but he was done in by negative points from The Williams' (Tampa's Mike and Baltimore's Ricky).
Biggest weakness: It hasn't shown in the standings yet, but Nick has a great team.  His receiving corps is underwhelming now, but I expect that to change once the aforementioned Mike Williams turns his game around.

7. Beast Mode (9) 1-1, 213 points
It was feast and famine for Hunt last week.  Aaron Rodgers, Miles Austin and Fred Jackson each had over 25 points to give Matt the win, but no other player had more than 12.
Biggest weakness: With Austin now fighting a hamstring injury, Beast Mode is scraping the bottom of the barrel for wide receivers.  It's never pretty when Nate Burleson is your second-best active wideout.

8. The Mighty Kegs (5) 1-1, 200 points
I still don't think Mike would have won his matchup, but Vick's injury against the Falcons sealed his fate last week.
Biggest weakness: There's no question in my mind that Mike has the worst receivers in the league.  The Mighty Kegs won't win anything with Michael Crabtree, Devery Henderson and a Peyton-less Reggie Wayne starting each week.

9. The Pudgy Pelican (7) Yours Truly, 0-2, 202 points
Starting an injured Brandon Lloyd didn't help, but I doubt he would have made up the 36-point deficit I lost to Will by.
Biggest weakness: Passing stats are plentiful, but you wouldn't know it by looking at my team.  Unless Josh Freeman or Chad Henne separate themselves, I'm going to struggle against opponents with elite passers.

10. Doctor Asshole (10) 1-1, 199 points
No Peyton? No problem!  Ryan Fitzpatrick and Vincent Jackson carried Jason to an impressive 133 points last week.
Biggest weakness: Jason's tandem of Fitzpatrick and Cam Newton should help him weather the loss of Manning, but his flex position is still a mess.  Until we add "Pounds of Weed Found in Home" as a stat, Jerome Simpson can't be counted on in that spot.

11. STD? Fine By Me! (11) 0-2, 159 points
A great comeback from Matt Ryan wasn't enough to save Ward's fantasy match.  Marcedes Lewis' injury didn't help matters.
Biggest weakness: Ward's receiving corps will look much better once Marques Colston returns, but Austin Collie's value has plummeted without Peyton Manning looking his way.

12. Lambs_of_Combat (12) 1-1, 180 points
Scott had the lowest total last week, which was still a respectable 85 points.  LaDainian Tomlinson, Derrick Mason andthe Chicago defense got him three points combined.
Biggest weakness: Himself.  Scott needs to log in and clean up his roster before it's too late.  Chris Ivory is on the PUP list.  T.J. Houshmandzadeh isn't even on a team!  Wake up Scott, your guys are dying out there!
